Tignon Laws: The dreadful rule that banned black women from displaying their hair
Did you know that at one point in time it was illegal for black girls and women to showcase their hair in public? Black women had become so creative with their hair and fancy styles that it was deemed a distraction. Asa result, the powers that be banned black women from expressing themselves.
